New Pics

I worked a little more on Heidi's Quilt tonight. Didn't get much done, but I took some pictures and opened a flicker account. I have found a lot of ideas on flicker by looking at others quilts. I hope that others find the things that I post inspirational as well.
As far as the quilt goes, the squares don't line up in some spots, but it doesn't seem to matter much!! I'm just winging this one!!

Slow Start

As it turns out, I am really bad at blogging. I need to upload pictures, and write more. This week I finished my first baby sling. It was made with Amy butler fabric and Sling Rings. I placed a zipper for mom's keys and such. I learned a few things on the first one. First, unless mom is really small, I need more that 2 yards of fabric. Second, putting a zipper in takes a lot of smarts. I used this great tutorial to get though the zipper. I'm pretty sure that I ripped it out at least 10 times. I finally got it right and I'm sure that it will be much easier the second time, like most things. My next sling will be for Brooke and baby Huck.
I have also come a long way on my Irish Chain Pinwheel Quilt. I am mostly done piecing the blocks. I have about 12 more before I start piecing the whole top. I have put that aside for now and picked up my jean quilt again. That has sat in the corner all summer and is a bit dusty. I have decided that I will finish this one for Christmas and give it to my sister Heidi. I am sure that she will really enjoy it. I have made quilts for my other sisters so it is her turn. I will hopefully upload some pic's in the next few days.

New Blog

I swore I would never do this, but like so many things before, here I am! I have found that I am having a hard time keeping track of projects that I would like to start...or finish... and I figured that this would be a good way to start. Maybe this will give me some accountability, like a diet food log but for crafting.
So I am working on this recycled jean quilt and am finding that it is moving along rather quickly, but I have had a few small problems, well really just one. I am finding that by following the directions, there are small holes between each of my squares. This is annoying, however as I was zig zag stitching the fabric squares into the jean circles, I found that I can just stitch where the four corners meet and patches the hole and creates a center for the "flower". It is working for now, but I hope that I will only do this for visual effect rather than function in the near future.
P.S. Before you start a project with your old jeans, reconsider. Ask your friends for their old jeans. Once you realize that you were once able to fit into those old jeans that have been in the basement for 5 years, recycling doesn't seem so fun!!!
